Though anyone who grew up on classic movies will blush at the idea that they could be thought of as boring, younger generations haven’t been as exposed to the black-and-white era.

Countless classics were made before color became the default, from Citizen Kane and Casablanca to Seven Samurai and It’s a Wonderful Life, with some filmmakers choosing to film in black and white for artistic reasons even today. But most people prefer what they grew up on and have a hard time appreciating what came before, meaning that not everyone keeps Turner Classic Movies on in the background all day long.
