Whether it’s piano lessons as a kid, a garage band as a teenager, or a lifelong devotion to one or more instruments, playing music is one of the most enriching things you can do. Which isn’t to say it’s for everyone — practice is crucial, but the importance of natural talent is impossible to overstate. So is sticking with it, as the countless people who’ve tried their hand at an instrument and eventually given up can attest. Some of us are better listeners than players, but it’s never too late to try.
