What goes around comes around…or does it?

The idea that being a good person invites goodness back into your life is appealing, though not always for the best reason — sometimes we like the idea of people who’ve wronged us getting theirs in the end. Many Eastern religions have a more expansive view of karma, believing that one’s present actions don’t just affect our future in the life we’re living but lead to better future lives as well. That’s all the more reason to do good deeds, though nonbelievers would counter that we should be a good person for its own sake rather than any future reward.
