It’s the classic unspoken agreement between partners — one cooks and the other handles the cleanup. But who makes out better in the trade? Both are chores, but just as some people love cooking, others find doing the dishes strangely meditative. “Doing the dishes” doesn’t necessarily mean hand-washing them, of course, as many of us have dishwashers these days and loading/unloading it is considerably easier. Cooking, on the other hand, can be extremely time-consuming depending on the meal — you can whip up some pasta in 15 minutes, but other dishes are day-long endeavors. Still, many of us enjoy cooking. With all that in mind, spare a thought for everyone who has to do both.
